Syn:drom: Demo 2
23/02/09 || theProphet
I’ve been putting off writing this review for so long I can’t even remember. The reason for this is that Syn:drom is another one of those bands that are quite competent, even good, but do we need them on today’s death metal scene? HELL FUCKING NO!
Seriously, listening to this album is like getting skullfucked by an enormous dildo made from all the death metal records I own and listen to. The music is good and all, but all I can hear is myself screaming “Enough, it’s too big! There’s no more room!!!”. Get it?
If Syn:drom had been one of the first bands I heard back when I was discovering death metal, then it’s more likely that I’d really like them, because they throw some pretty sweet riffs at you, they have a decent groove going and the production is all fine. The vocals surely aren’t the best I’ve heard, but then again, neither are Karl Willets’, but I love them to death, which I suspect is partly due to the fact that they were some of the first I ever heard. I guess Syn:drom just got to the party too late and all the good seats had already been taken.
Still, if you’re one of those guys who need more than maybe ten really good death metal bands between which to divide your listening, then check these fuckers out, because they sure as hell deserve it. And maybe, just maybe, these guys will one day unleash one motherfucker of a great album, there’s definitely that potential here. And finally, these guys don’t get a record contract but bands such as Zonaria or whatever the fuck do? Syn:drom is way fucking better than many a signed band, but are they good enough to compete with the best of them? HELL FUCKING NO!!!
